The Tomato Project

I always thought that Corey did not care about our blog. Sure, when I do a new post, he will look at it and laugh or compliment a picture or make some sort of comment to me about it. I have even caught him a few times looking up our blog on his own to see if there are any new posts that he had missed. However, when I mentioned that I took a few pictures of our Topsy Turvy and that I was thinking about doing a post about it, he immediately responded with enthusiasm. He even started brainstorming possible titles for the post. He mentioned titling it, "Corey's Pet Project." I asked him if he really wanted me to call it that and he said, "Well, it doesn't really matter what you call it but give me my credit where credit is due..." Isn't that hysterical???? So this post was going to be about our new Topsy Turvy but the subpost is how funny and adorable my husband is. I digress. Please note to the left the picture of our Topsy Turvy. Corey has wanted one for a long time. He has visions of tomatoes dancing in his head. I came home from work about a month ago and found this hanging. Initially, there was only a teeny tiny amount of the plant showing but in no more than a month, not only is the growth astounding, but it is already yielding our very first tomato!

Yes, I understand that it is the size of a dime and you probably need to magnify the photo to even see it. But it is there! Every morning, Corey would go outside to check for tomatoes and then report back the same thing, "Nothing yet." The one day he did not check was the day that a tomato appeared! Sarah noticed it and I immediately had to call Corey and inform him of his tomato success.  I am happy to report that the tomato is now the size of nickel and Corey has big plans for its harvest. So, to give "Corey's Pet Project" credit where credit is due, I totally doubted the ability of the Topsy Turvy to yield success. But Corey....well, Corey believed.

Post-Edit: It is now two days after my original post and our Topsy Turvy is now yielding three gorgeous tomatoes!

I am very jealous of your Topsy Turvy success! Maybe if we had some SUN up here, ours would grow a little. So we'll just continue to have it flooded with rainwater and hope to see a little tomato soon.

=)
