Wine and Cheese

Corey and I try to have a wine and cheese night every month. We always enjoy tasting new wines and are thrilled when friends share their favorites with us. Our dear friends, the Bickerstaffs, are spoiling us for the next year. Every month we receive a bottle of wine and a new type of cheese. This month, the wine was Chardonel Dry. The Chardonel was fresh and fruity with pear and lemon flavors and a long finish. The cheese was an aged-24 month sharp cheddar that was enough to take my breath away.

Chardonel was developed in New York State, to be a late-ripening, highly-productive, cold-climate varietal. A cross of Chardonnay and Seyval Blanc, Chardonel is proving its value in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest states. Given much of the same treatment as Chardonnay, it adapts well to barrel fermention, and controlled lees contact. The result is often a full-bodied dry wine with a similar, if less pronounced character than Chardonnay.

All that aside, it was just really yummy and romantical to share it with my husband!!!
