Joseph Aristotle's Bilateral Abdominal Cryptorchidectomy

Corey and I weren't going to discuss the issue but the silence has gone on enough. After much thought, we have decided to come forward. If we can help even one feline out there, then our job here is done. There is such a stigma and insensitivity towards cryptorchid cats. After enduring slurs referring to his manhood and questions on his fertility status, we have decided to put it all on the record. Our cat, Joseph Aristotle, had undescended testicles. Initially, his gender was unknown due to the lack of his berries. This is a very rare condition in cats and proves to be sensitive topic with much of the animal world. After waiting almost a year for a testicular descent to occur, it became evident that the veterinarian was going to have to go in and retrieve them via exploratory abdominal surgery. Joseph was not pleased.

We are happy to announce that his exploratory laparotomy was successful! The nuggets were located and ligated and while no longer fertile, we can answer, without a doubt, that our Joey is of the male persuasion. He was pretty miserable for a solid five days preferring to sleep on his back with all paws in air. The cone slowly drove him insane. On day 6, he began hurtling his head and body into walls, furniture and people in an attempt to dislodge it. Out of fear of spinal cord injury, we were rebels and took his cone off a whole day early. Joseph is now the happiest neutered baby kitty on the block...with a shaved belly that makes him look like a precious little taquito!

P.S. This blog was really for the select few who can appreciate it without worrying about my mental state. The rest of you may carry on and pay no attention...

Berries and nuggets! Oh my goodness Laura! Give Joseph a big, gentle hug from his Aunt Diane. This was the first thing I read after a few days with my foot in the air and I must say, you've got me rolling!

First off i am impressed with your spelling of such large words!!!!

It seems as though just yesterday we were sitting on the cold blue tile playing, cuddleing and nameing 8 baby kittens. There were orange ones, brown ones, striped ones, grey one, sick ones and healthy ones. I was trying to talk you into a crazy little grey one; but your heart quickly belonged to a creamy orange, wispy haired, long bushy tailed little man. You have taken such good care of him and he will always be greatful that you chose him. He will re pay buy keeping you warm at night, keeping you busy when you feel bored, giving you something to cuddle when Corey isnt around and a peek into unconditonal love.
