Pittsford, NY

Last year, Corey's parents moved to Pittsford, New York. We were able to visit and spend two weeks with them this July. I have never spent time in the northeast before so I did not know what to expect. Robin always told me about the "cute little villages." I never really knew what she was talking about as I had never seen a "village" before. It turns out that villages are super cute. The Eerie Canal runs right through Pittsford and one evening Jim, Corey, Molly and I walked along the water. The whole thing was so picturesque!

The architecture is so quaint! Nearly all the houses have brightly painted shutters and lots of windows. The steps leading up to the front doors are so inviting and the porches make me jealous! This area of New York has long, hard winters but it makes for beautiful green plants and trees in the spring and summertime.

The town of Pittsford has a memorial honoring all their hometown heroes. All the bricks are engraved with the names, ranks and wars the veterans served in. Since Corey and Jim both served in the United States Navy, they took the time to read all the names.

I love snowball bushes. So does my Aunt Diane. I took this for her. The hydrangea were all along the canal!
Isn't it gorgeous???

There were homes all along the canal. Many of them have docks leading down to landings and  boats. This particular house had a staircase that led all the way down the bank to a porch on the water! If you enlarge the photo, you can see the man and his golden retriever sitting on the landing enjoying the cool summer evening.  I could not get over how cool it was! No, seriously, Molly and Corey were getting embarrassed. I stood there staring and taking pictures for a solid five minutes. I think I started making the man and his dog nervous because soon they walked up the steps back to their house. In my next life, my golden retriever and I will sit on our landing on the Eerie Canal every single morning and every single night.

Yah, we were wayyyyy up there! There was a huge storm one day- we were in New Jersey and missed it but when we came back, all the trees were down and they had lost power and I guess it was intense! I was sad I missed it.
