I Left My Heart in San Francisco

Sigh.... where to even begin. I will start at the beginning (a very good place to start...sorry, I couldn't help it). I had not seen Julie in two years which was completely unacceptable. With her living in Hawaii and me living in California, it is not as if there are very many places we can meet in between. We tried to meet up in Colorado this past summer when she was visiting her parents but it did not work out. When she called me and told me that she would be in San Francisco for a work conference in December, I knew it was our chance. I was able to get an airline ticket for less than $100 and our plan was in motion. I went to SF when I was in 4th grade, but other than the man who hides behind a bush and jumps out and scares people (if you have been to SF, then you know exactly who I am talking about) near Fisherman's Wharf, I remembered nothing of the city. We were only there for 48 hours together, but we had the best time. We walked the whole city and loved every minute of it. Except on our last night when we huffed and puffed up a hill because we were kinda sorta lost and there was no cable car/cab/transportation to be found. We walked Chinatown, Little Italy, the financial district, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghiradelli Square and tons of the neighborhoods. I loved the architecture. I loved the weather- crisp and cool but not cold. I loved the food. We ate our way across the city. My bread bowl of clam chowder will have a post all it's own. The only thing missing is a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge- it was too foggy to even see it. I love San Francisco and cannot wait to go back- it is my new favorite city!

Julie is one of my favorite people ever. I don't think we stopped talking once during our two days together. We didn't skip a beat- those are the best kind of friends. The ones that you can go days, months or years without seeing and it is like no time has passed at at all.

Until next time...
