Growing up in Southern California means beaches are just a prerequisite. While we had been to Charleston several times in the last few years, we had never made it to the beach on any of our visits. This time around, we made sure to go. You will notice that my photos do not focus on the water- the Atlantic is not much different than the Pacific. What is different, however, is the vegetation and grass growing along the sand! It is really beautiful. The other difference is the sand- In California, the sand is large, coarse and easily brushed off. In South Carolina, the sand is soft and fine and impossible to brush off your skin.
