For a few years now, I have been very conflicted about buying a Christmas tree. I love Christmas trees. I love the lights and the smell of a real Christmas tree. BUT (and this is where I'm about to go all Greenpeace on you), is it worth chopping down millions of trees just for that yummy tree smell? In my heart, I decided it was not and asked Corey if we could buy a fake tree. A GOOD fake tree. But Corey was adamently opposed. He had not had the experience of buying a tree, decorating it, smelling it and enjoying it for the last 5 years. In short, he really wanted a real tree and all that went along with it. After doing a bit of research, we found that Target sells "Green Trees." Simply put, every tree is grown and replaced according to standards by an International Environmental Organization. For every tree cut down, a new one is planted. I decided that I could live with that this year. So we compromised. We bought a Green Tree this time around and Corey promised to consider buying a fake one in the future.
Corey attempted to climb the tree. He was a smidge excited.
Joey was thrilled to be part of the process.
I'm all about the lights on a tree. I like putting them on, then re-putting them on, then constantly adujusting them until they are just right.
This is Gus. I got him from McDonald's with my Happy Meal when I was in first grade. He is my favorite ornament.
This is our beautiful handmade ornament from Aunt Diane from 2006 when we got engaged.
This is our newest ornament from Momma Fischer. We are snowmen.
This is Belvadere the Reindeer. He is another favorite childhood ornament. Matt and I used to fight over who got to hang him on the tree. I don't know how I inherited him but I'm fairly confident that Matt is not aware that he is now mine.
Corey and I also went to Target and picked out our Christmas stockings. Guess which one is Corey's?

I have to admitt that you TRULY captured the feeling of christmas in your home. It made me want to sip hot coco, kick off me shoes, curl up with a blanket, sings christmas tunes at the top of my lungs and argue with family! Good job!
LOVE. Absolutely love. I love this post! I promised more CLR ornaments and there will be! Keying on all the ornaments...I may have to copy that idea!!!
P.S. You are more than welcome to come do the lights on our trees!
=) Aunt Diane
I'm VERY envious of your green treen and fresh pine smell (whimper)...
Its Christmas at the Riggins house. What a perfect tree.
What a lush tree! And you look great in sweats! AND, what a great idea to highlight special ornaments . . .
Hey I know those pants! Since I gave them do you would they be called "hand me ups" since they were way too long for me?
I know it's SOOO late to comment on this (like over a month)...but I wanted to share that I, too, have the Gus ornament from McDonald's. Good times...
